Since 1983, I have been in some form of audio-visual service or another. At Ithaca College, New York I got my start working as an audio-visual technician at the Gannett Center Library and Egbert (student) Union. Eventually, I became one of three A.V. Managers overseeing a staff of more than twenty. Even after graduation in 1987, I ran all audio-visual events for the college’s summer programs. I worked at the Mid-Hudson Library System as an A.V. Supervisor for six years managing a staff of eight while servicing all A.V. needs and requests for almost 90 libraries in southern New York State. In 1993, I relocated to the Washington DC area where I worked for five years in the hotel hospitality industry before working 30 months as an audio-visual contractor for the Central Intelligence Agency. From 1994 to 2000, I also worked a few weeks a year as an A.V. Consultant for the U.S. Department of Justice organizing their equipment and logistical needs for their annual U.S. Attorney’s Conference in different parts of the country. From this job, I was determined to obtain a government position which I obtained in late 2000 working for the Office of Naval Intelligence as a Video Editor and Audio-Visual Specialist (GS-1071).
